The Scurry County United Way campaign is ready to call a blitz.
Next week, the campaign will hold its second annual Business Blitz to help raise money for this year’s campaign. As of Friday, the campaign has received $73,102 in donations and pledges. That represents 44 percent of the $165,000 goal. The total does not include funds from this week’s Fall Festival sponsored by Western Texas College.
Executive Director Sheila Hale said each of the roughly 70 businesses that will be part of the blitz have already been contacted by committee members.
“Our campaign committee will have a meeting on Monday to create teams and assign businesses which each team will visit,” Hale said. “Volunteers associated with the 2019 Business Blitz will be wearing black United Way shirts.”
The team that collects the most donations will be honored later this year. Last year’s top team was Jonathan Farmer and Mark McClain, Hale said.
The campaign will provide financial support to Snyder Day Care Center, Gateway Family Services, West Texas Children’s Advocacy Center, Buffalo Trail Boy Scouts, Texas-Oklahoma Plains Girl Scouts, Cancer Services Network, Scurry County Food Cupboard, the Snyder Volunteer Fire Department, Scurry County Museum, Scurry County 4-H and Snyder Christian School.
