Unsafe structures will be subject of Monday public hearings

Three structures may be ordered to be demolished Monday when Snyder’s Building Standards Commission meets.
The commission will hold public hearings on buildings located at 1003 31st Street, 320 28th Street and 1901 19th Street, and may declare them nuisances, and if so, could order their demolition.
The building at 1003 31st Street, which city records indicate is owned by Ricky Gomez, of Snyder, has structural hazards and faulty construction materials, according to an inspection report from City Inspector Dan Hicks.
The property has an appraised value of $9,547 and $97.51 in property taxes were paid in 2015.
The building at 320 28th Street, which city records indicate is owned by Audrey and Pearline Archie, of Wichita Falls, has numerous issues.
According to Hicks’ report, there are structural hazards that include hazardous wiring and plumbing. The building is unsecured and a fire hazard and the premises are unsanitary, the report states.
The appraised value of the property is under $4,000 and property taxes of $1,338 are due.
The building at 1901 19th Street, which city records indicate is owned by Emma Arizmendi, of Snyder, also has a number of problems, Hicks’ report states.
There are structural hazards that include hazardous wiring and plumbing. The building is unsecured and a fire hazard and the premises are unsanitary, it states.
The property has an appraised value of $5,559 and $138 in property taxes are due.
The commission, which is made up of Snyder City Council members, will meet at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers at Snyder City Hall. The meeting and hearings are open to the public
