Scurry County United Way will celebrate the results of its 2019 campaign with its awards luncheon on Feb. 20 at Martha Ann Women’s Club.
This year’s fundraising campaign came up short of its $165,000 goal, bringing in $137,570 including special challenges and matching funds.
This year’s campaign brought in nearly $20,000 more than last year’s campaign, which raised $118,326.
In order to fully fund the 11 partner agencies this year, the board this week voted to pull $2,430 from its reserve account.
“I would like to say ‘thank you’ to Scurry County for their help in supporting the agencies of Scurry County United Way,” said Executive Director Sheila Hale. “The anonymous donor truly helped to create an investment initiative within our community to raise record level funds during the match.”
During the awards luncheon, several awards will be presented.
The Jack and Ann Smartt award goes to businesses or individuals that go “above and beyond” in their support of the Scurry County United Way. Major campaign donors will also be recognized during the luncheon.
Money raised during this year’s campaign will benefit 11 local non-profit agencies: Boy Scouts of America Buffalo Trail Council, Cancer Services Network, Gateway Family Services, Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, Jumpstart Enrichment for Tomorrow’s Students, Scurry County 4H, Scurry County Food Cupboard, Scurry County Museum, Snyder Christian School, Snyder Volunteer Fire Department and West Texas Children’s Advocacy Center.
