Walmart is partnering with Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), to host a sidewalk chalk art contest Saturday.
The contest will take place in front of the garden center at Walmart Supercenter from 10 a.m. to noon, organizer Lea Addison said.
Children will each be given a two-by-three foot area on which to draw for one hour, Addison said.
The contest will be judged according to three age groups — three to five, six to nine and 10-12.
Although children will be the only ones judged, people of all ages may draw, Addison said.
“Everybody is welcome,” Addison said. “We had some of the BACA bikers ask, ‘Why can’t we draw?’ So we told them they could come and draw, too. Anyone can do it, but only the children ages three to 12 will be eligible for prizes.”
Walmart and BACA are also accepting school supply donations for local children.
“Anything from pencils, pens and notebook paper to rulers and books, we’ll take it all,” Addison said. “We also made donation bags of school supplies that people have been buying, so that has been good, too.”
Cake and punch will be served during the event, which will also honor civil servants.
