White Buffalo Days to begin Friday

The 2015 White Buffalo Days will take place Friday and Saturday on the downtown square.
Festivities begin Friday when vendor booths open at 5 p.m. on the Scurry County Courthouse lawn. An historical display courtesy of Fort Griffin will be set up around the square.
Entertainment will include two shows staged by the Tumbleweed Crossing Comedic Gunfight on the west side of the courthouse. The first show begins at 6 p.m. and the second will be at 7:30 p.m.
Beau Taylor and Spur 644 will perform at 8 p.m. at the Downtown Plaza.
On Saturday, the White Buffalo 5K Stampede begins at 8 a.m. with the Dash of Color Mile. The 5K is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Registration will be at College on the Square. Awards will be presented at 10 a.m. at the gazebo.
Also on Saturday, the Tumbleweed Crossing Comedic Gunfight will perform at 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on the west side of the courthouse.
Author Zane Sterling’s presentation is set for 11:30 a.m. at the gazebo.
Other entertainment will include Star R Us Gymnastics at noon, Cindy Wright at 12:30 p.m., Kendallies Dance Studio at 1 p.m., Jim Lionberger at 1:30 p.m., Deep Creek Cloggers at 2 p.m. and Lori Sealy at 3 p.m.
Vendor booths will open at 9 a.m. on the courthouse lawn and close at 4 p.m.
Saturday’s festivities will also feature a petting zoo on the west side of the courthouse.
In addition, Heritage Village will be open on The Coliseum grounds from 1-3 p.m. Volunteers will demonstrate biscuit making, weaving, spinning and making baskets.
The White Buffalo Quilt Guild will host a quilt show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church Family Life building.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center.
