Garland Rex Robinson

1932-2020

Garland Rex Robinson, 87, of Snyder died Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital.  

A graveside service for Mr. Robinson will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2020, at Hillside Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Cody Cochran and Hospice Chaplain Kinney Robinson officiating. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Mr. Robinson was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Sweetwater to Hugh Allen and Clovis Agnes (Garner) Robinson.  He married Marsha Fisher on June 20, 1955, in Snyder. She preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2012.

Mr. Robinson was a member of the U.S. Army. He also played football at Texas Tech University and later moved back to Snyder and worked at Snyder National Bank for 38 years, advancing to serve as Executive Vice President and President. He was very active in this community with several groups: President of Little League, Rotary Club President and deacon at First Baptist Church, and helped serve Meals On Wheels. 

He was also President of the Texas Angus Association and secretary of the National Angus Association. He ran the Winston Hereford Ranch south of Snyder for several years.

He was a board member of Cogdell Memorial Hospital, Western Texas College, Price Daniels Prison and the Building Board for Scurry County Coliseum. He loved to play golf and spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Robby Robinson; a sister, LaJuana Robison; and a brother-in-law, Doyle Hayes.

Survivors include a daughter, Sabrina Robinson of Snyder; two sons, Phil Robinson and his wife, Eva, of Snyder and William Robinson and his wife, GiGi, of Anson; two granddaughters, Scout Randolph of Moncks Corner, S.C. and Chaelyn Blumenstock and her husband, Kirk, of Snyder; three grandsons, Shane Robinson of Snyder, Cheyenne Robinson and his wife, Carla, of Snyder and Jamie Robinson and his wife, Tamara, of Abilene; nine great-grandchildren, Brylee and Chancee Blumenstock of Snyder, Stayton and Hadley Robinson of Snyder, Wells and Ellis Robinson of Abilene and Leslie, Lauren and Mason Whetsel; a brother, Jim Robinson and his wife, Billye, of Snyder; a sister, Jean Taylor of Snyder; a brother-in-law, Glen Robinson of Vinita, Okla; three sisters-in-law, Jean Hayes, Margaret Glass and her husband, Wayne, and Pat Robinson, all of Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.
