Ramon Valadez
1948-2019
Ramon Lopez Valadez, 70, of Snyder, died Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Sweetwater.
Funeral service for Mr. Valadez will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Pena and the Rev. Ramon Valadez III officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Born on  May 7, 1948 in Snyder to Salome and Anita (Lopez) Valadez, he married Rosa Prendez on Nov. 21, 1964 in Snyder.
Ramon was a loving son, husband, father, uncle and friend. Most importantly, his greatest pleasure was being a loving Pawpaw. His family was his world and he would often say that family was the greatest gift God gave him. He had a special love  for each and every one of his children and grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He was the family’s protector and fixer upper man. Ray’s brothers shared that he was like that as long as they could remember, even as a boy.
If you knew Ramon well, you were aware of his love for sports and his passion was baseball. He passed it on to his family. He loved to teach the grandkids his skills and could be found in the backyard with a glove, ball and bat in hand.
He also loved old cars and taking a ride on his Harley Davidson.
Ramon had a giving heart and never forgot his roots. He would give his last dime to a friend or stranger in need.
He had a work ethic like no other and could be found many times in his coveralls and hard hat helping his crew. He began his career in the oilfield 47 years ago at Universal, formally known as C&J, as a floor hand and worked his way up to operations specialist.
Ramon had no high school diploma, but instilled in his children the importance of an education and most importantly his work ethic values. His employees were like family and he worried about them when the oilfield would crash. He would make his rounds all over West Texas and the Permian Basin to the many friends he had made over the years to drum up business. The burden of them not working and being able to provide for their families laid heavy on his heart.
Ramon was a man of few words, but a heart of gold. He loved unconditionally and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will continue with the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sylvia Hernandez.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Valadez of Snyder; one son, Raymond Valadez Jr. of San Angelo; two daughters, Christie Everett and her husband, Tony, of Big Spring and CeCe Pena of Snyder; three brothers, Florencio Valadez and his wife, Cindy, of McCloud, Okla. and Abelino Valadez and his wife, Stella, and Mike Valadez and his wife, Gracie, all of Snyder; 11 grandchildren, Andrea Valadez, Raymond Valadez III, Priscilla Valadez and Robert and Jacob Garcia, all of San Angelo, Christian Everett and Tanya Evrard, both of Big Spring, and Jerek, Jeren, Zaden and Zantley Pena, all of Snyder; and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Erin.
