Virginia Barboza
1927-2016
Our mother, Virginia Canales Barboza, 88, of Snyder, was united in heaven with her beloved husband, Jose Barboza, and her lovely daughter, Olga Barboza, on Monday, Aug. 15, 2016 in Snyder.
Funeral mass for Mrs. Barboza will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Raj Arokiasamy officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Barboza was born on Oct. 18, 1927 in Del Rio to Feliciano and Dionicia (Gomez) Canales. She married Jose on Feb. 18, 1946 in Del Rio. Mrs. Barboza was a parishioner and a Crusillista of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, as well as being involved as a Guadalupana for several years in Snyder.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Beatrice Ortegon.
Survivors include four daughters, Olivia Landeros of San Leandro, Calif., Elena Barboza of Snyder, Virginia A. Barboza of Colorado City and Cecilia Barboza of Abilene; three sons, Jose Ramon Barboza Jr. and his wife, Minerva, of New Braunfels and Larry Barboza and his wife, Shirley, and Ector Barboza, all of Snyder; one brother, Rumaldo Canales and his wife, Josefina, of Snyder; and one sister, Eva Canales of Arizona.

Gerald Edward McCormick died Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 in Hobbs, N.M.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Helena Catholic Church in Hobbs, N.M. with the Rev. Ricardo Bauza officiating. Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Holy Family Cemetery in Nazareth under the director of Griffin Funeral Home in Hobbs, N.M.
A rosary will be held at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Raymond Schwarz
1925-2016
Raymond Edward Schwarz, 90, of Inadale, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2016 at his home.
Funeral service for Mr. Schwarz will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Townsend officiating. The Rev. Joshua Smith will assist. Burial will follow at Lone Wolf Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born on Nov. 4, 1925 in Scurry County to Eugene and Alwina (Stahl) Schwarz, he married Wanda June Reed on Feb. 9, 1947 in Wastella. Mr. Schwarz was a lifelong Scurry County resident and a farmer for 64 years. He was a member of the Plains Cotton Cooperative Association, Inadale Coop Gin board of directors, PCCA board of directors, American Cotton Growers Association and Bank of Cooperatives board of directors. He was named a conservation farmer of the year and was a member of the Hermleigh ISD board of trustees. He was a member and deacon of Central Baptist Church in Hermleigh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David A. Schwarz, and two sisters, Viola Stirl and Ida Schwarz.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda June Schwarz of Inadale; one daughter, Dolores Cox of Allen; one son, Larry Schwarz and his wife, Linda, of Snyder; four granddaughters, Melody Semler and her husband, Carl, of Plano, Debbie Summers and her husband, Jason, of Snyder, Deana White and her husband, Rodney, of Amarillo and Tamara Hanks and her husband, James, of Farmersville; one grandson, Andrew Cox and his wife, Susan, of Lubbock; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley Semler, Drew Cox, Brooklyn Cox and Morgan Cox, all of Lubbock, Nathan Semler of Plano, Tahnee Summers of Abilene, Taylor Summers of Snyder and Samuel Hanks and Nathanael Hanks, both of Farmersville; and one great-great-grandson, Landon Davis of Abilene.
