Gini White
1920-2016
Virginia “Gini” Neal White, 96, of Abilene and formerly of Snyder, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 in Abilene.
Graveside service for Mrs. White was held at 10 a.m. today at Snyder Cemetery with Levi Sizemore officiating. The service was under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Virginia was born on April 19, 1920 in Snyder and lived there her entire life, until recent years when she moved to Abilene to be closer to her daughter, Janice, and son, Jerry. She was the fourth child born to Ellis and Myrtle Neal. Virginia accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of East Side Church of Christ.
She attended Snyder High School, where she graduated in 1940. She continued to enjoy learning throughout her life, especially reading the daily newspaper and National Geographic. She especially liked telling people that she had seen the world change from horse-driven buggies to people traveling in space and the digital age.
On March 22, 1940, she married the late Andrew Houston White and had three children, Janice (White) Hollister, Edgar “Eddie” White and Gerald “Jerry” White. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and in later years, her sweet, four-legged dog, Susie.
She also loved to travel, read maps, dine out, go shopping and listen to Willie Nelson songs. Flowers made her smile and most of them she could name. She was very fond of birthday cake, ice cream, cookies and her daughter’s home cooking. In addition, she especially liked to look at old family photos, which she referred to as “digging up bones.”
Her closest friend growing up was Zorra Lee (Cole) McKinney. She cherished her neighbors, especially Pat McGinnis, and all of her lady friends over the years from East Side Church of Christ. Her best friends were her sister, Nellie, and her daughter, Janice.
She was a great cook, seamstress and homemaker, but her favorite job was being Grannie and GG Mom.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Myrtle Neal; one son, Eddie; three sisters, Bonnie (Neal) Gladson and her husband, Rex,  Margaret (Neal) Judkins and her husband, Garrett, and Nellie (Neal) Davis and her husband, Bill; and two brothers, James Neal and Thomas Neal.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice (White) Hollister of Abilene; one son, Jerry White and his wife, Lisa, of Abilene; one sister-in-law, Francis Neal; her grandchildren, Mark Hollister and his wife, Chris, of Keller, Jeff Hollister and his wife, Lydia, of Littlefield, Jason Hollister of Stevensville, Mont. and Harley Harper of Kyle; and her great-grandchildren, Skylar and Hannah Hollister of Littlefield, Katy and Andrew Hollister of Stevensville, Mont., Jacob Curtis of Austin and Lucas Harper of Kyle.
