Pamela Everett
1954-2016
Pamela Lea Block Everett, 62, a longtime resident of Snyder, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 after an incredibly courageous battle with lung cancer.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church. The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born on Sept. 4, 1954 in Great Bend, Kan. to Helen Marie (Shropshire) Block and Samuel Otto Block, Pam grew up in Snyder and graduated from Snyder High School in 1973. She took pride in being a twirler in the band. She graduated with an associate’s degree in fine arts in journalism in 1975. Pam worked as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly and IGA Supermarket, devoted many years caring for her mother and also worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 15 years. She loved good food, socializing and catching up with friends and family.
Pam was an incredibly loving mother, grandmother and friend whose greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored and loved. She enjoyed giving gifts, gardening and crafting.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two nieces, Bridget Block and Candice Tovar.
Pam is survived by her daughter, Samantha Everett of Odessa; her son Tyler Everett and his wife, Ashley, of Odessa; six beloved grandchildren who called her “Memaw,” Brookelynn Pruitt, Jadyn Pruitt, Jaycin Pruitt, Braelyn Pruitt, Jaylea Everett and Jaxsynn Everett, all of Odessa; three sisters, Carol Lane and her husband, Lonnie, of Amarillo, Donna Block of Dallas and Shirley Farquhar of Snyder; two brothers, Ronnie Block and his wife, Kathy and Roger Block and his wife, Kellye, all of Snyder; and 11 nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wael Tello of Lubbock for the extraordinary care given to Pam, and her pastor, Dr. Tommy Culwell, for his years of spiritual guidance.

Alfred Kohl
1929-2016
Alfred A. “Rooster” Kohl, 87, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2016.
A funeral mass for Mr. Kohl will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Punkin Center.
Visitation will following the service at the church hall.
Mr. Kohl was born on Jan. 5, 1929 in Harrold to Albert and Bertha Kohl.
Alfred “Rooster” graduated from Harrold High School. In 1946. He joined the armed forces and served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. before being honorably discharged in 1950. He was a policeman in the city of Electra before moving to Snyder in 1954, where he worked as a patrolman with the city from May 24, 1954 to July 1, 1964.
While a patrolman, he was promoted to police captain in October 1963 and served in that capacity until transferring to the fire department with the rank of lieutenant on July 1, 1964. On Aug. 1, 1964 he took the position of fire chief and arson investigator and held that position until Aug. 4, 1982.
During those years, Alfred also served as the director of city operations under the direction of City Manager George Patterson, from Nov. 15, 1971 until he retired in 1984. After 1984, Alfred worked for Price Construction of Big Spring and then at Scurry County Precinct No. 2 from 1991-97.
During Alfred’s career, he attended various fire academy trainings at Texas A&M University and Lubbock. On June 11, 1969, he and other firemen were awarded second place in the men’s pumper races from the State Fireman’s and Fire Marshal’s Association of Texas in McAllen. In 1973, he received the outstanding fireman’s award from the Snyder Fire Department. He was also the recipient of the Melvin Newton Award in 1998 and 2004 at the City of Snyder’s annual fireman’s Thanksgiving banquet.
Alfred was also an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and participated in the church’s annual Sausage Festival for many years.
In 1978 and 1979 he enjoyed coaching the Snyder Little League Baseball Giants and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and coin collecting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert G. and Bertha Lutz Kohl; an infant son, George Paul Kohl; one nephew, Johnny Collins; and his sister and brother-in-law, Earline and Joe Niedermayer.
Alfred is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary of Fort Worth, they were married 62 years on Oct. 11, 2016; his daughter, Pam Slater and her husband, J.D., of Haslet; one son, Pat Kohl and his wife, Lori, of San Angelo; one brother, Carroll Kohl and his wife, Leighrene, of Big Spring; one brother-in-law, Gerald Weisenfels and his wife, Cil, of Arlington; one sister-in-law, Loretta Corder of Northglen, Colo.; his grandchildren, Kristin Murray of Haslet, Amanda Murray of Fort Worth, and Jordan Kohl and Kolton Kohl, both of San Angelo; his step-grandchildren, Colby Slater and his wife, Jody, of Abilene and Dylan Slater and Nathan Slater and his wife, Stacy, all of Colorado City; his step-great-grandchildren, Ayden Slater and Paxton Slater, both of Colorado City; and his nephews and nieces, Thomas Kohl and his wife, Lori, and their children of Tolar, Angela Newton and her husband, Billy, and their children of Coahoma, Glenda Ramsey and her husband, Scott, and their children of Wichita Falls, Dana Rodriguez and her children of Big Spring, Gerry Weisenfels and his wife, Shannon, and their children of Midland, Tammie Foster and her husband, David, and their children of Iowa Park and Sonny Collins and his wife, Jo, and their children of Electra.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
