Angelea Carey

1918-2018

Angelea Carey, 99, of Merkel and formerly of Snyder, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 in Merkel.

Funeral service for Mrs. Carey will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Tom Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. 

Born on Oct. 20, 1918 in Indian Gap to Aubry and Lila (Shipman) Jacobs, she married Arvis Lee Carey on April 15, 1939 in Burkburnett. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2010. Mrs. Carey was a housewife and member of the East Side Church of Christ.   

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Jaime Gilreath, and three brothers, Ross Jacobs, Clark Jacobs and Aubry A. Jacobs Jr. 

Survivors include one son, Scott Carey of Merkel, one daughter, Leslie Jan Watson and her husband, Ray, of Hamby, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

George Mendez

1935-2018

George Mendez, 82, of Snyder, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018. 

Funeral arrangements are pending at Miller Family Funeral Home.

 

Jose Ramos

1958-2018

Jose Ramos, 59, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018 in Snyder.

Memorial service for Mr. Ramos will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Ramos was born on Dec. 18, 1958 in San Antonio to Alfonso and Delfina (Pena) Ramos. He graduated from Snyder High School and worked for Walmart for a number of years. Jose’s life will forever be cherished by his siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister-in-law, Rose Ramos, and one great-niece, Arianna Lynn Delfina Castillo.

Survivors include his siblings, Alfonso Ramos and his wife, Sue Anne, of Houston, Jesse Ramos of Plano, Janie Delao and her husband, Ruben, and Mary Ann Garcia, all of Snyder; his nieces and nephews, Billy Delao and his fiancee, Kathy, of Melissa, Ruben Delao Jr. and his wife, Patricia, and Daniela Garcia, all of Snyder, Alfonso Delao and his wife, Geneva, of Lubbock, Abby Stanutz and her husband, Ben, and Maxine Ramos, all of Dallas, Brian Ramos and his wife, Ashley, of Houston, Cary Ramos of Florida, Samantha Green and her wife, Jessica, of Lamore, Calif. and Adrienne Green and her husband, Jon, of Big Spring; 17 great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew.

Earnest Reynolds Jr.

1931-2018

Earnest Ray Reynolds Jr., of Snyder, went to be in the arms of his savior on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at the age of 86 years.

Memorial service for Mr. Reynolds will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Merkel. The service will be under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.

Earnest was born and raised in Merkel and after high school he joined the Air Force and served his country for four years. He then attended Hardin-Simmons University and Texas Tech University, where he earned his degree in civil engineering. He continued work in engineering up until a year before his death. 

Earnest was also a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church during his time in Snyder. He was a loving husband, father and a doting grandfather who never said no to anyone in need of a helping hand. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kneodah “Kay” Reynolds of Snyder; two daughters, Vicky Loven and Christy Rush, both of Snyder; and two granddaughters, Kaylee and Anna Grace Rush, both of Snyder.
