Anita Joyce Smith, 89, of Snyder died Monday, February 22, 2021 in Lubbock.
A graveside service for Mrs. Smith will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ryan Ford officiating. No visitation is planned at this time. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born on August 6, 1931 in Snyder to Edgar Benno and Sula Pauline (Bynum) von Roeder. She married Kenneth Ray Smith on Jan. 2, 1951. She graduated from Snyder High School and Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde. She started working for Snyder Daily News in the early 1970s and retired after 30 years of service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a master seamstress. She enjoyed playing cards and trivia games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth Smith, her sister Norma Chapman and grandchildren Ashley Bouher and Valerie Knipe.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Knipe and her husband Grant of Snyder, Paula Hood and her husband Bruce of Thorndale, Cheryl Bouher and her husband Bill of Spur; four grandchildren, Justin Hood and his wife Stephanie of Montgomery, Shannon Priest and her husband Ben of Montgomery, Corey Knipe of Snyder and Josh Bouher and his wife Lisa of Pasco, Wash.; seven great-grandchildren Jaden, Jordan and Jentry Hood, Eli and Ava Priest and Ashlyn and Jayton Bouher; and many nieces and nephews
