Anna Perry
1931-2019
Anna Mae Perry passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.
Funeral service for Mrs. Perry will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Branum officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born on May 30, 1931 to John and Floy Deshazo in Camp Springs in her grandmother Worley’s home, which still stands today just west of the community. She lived there just east of town in Fisher County until 1937, when the family moved to Snyder. She graduated from Snyder High School in 1948. During that time, she met her future husband, Eldon Perry. They wed on Jan. 5, 1951.
They lived for a short time on the family farm west of Snyder, then moved to San Clemente, Calif. when Eldon was in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his discharge, they returned to Scurry County and began their life on the family farm for the next 30 years. They lived in the Lone Wolf Community for several years on the farm there. She recalled how excited they would get when they would hear a car coming down the highway, which was rarely traveled, and would run to the window to see who it might be. In 1958, they moved to the farm east of Snyder, along U.S. Hwy. 180, where they would continue to live until Eldon’s passing in 1985. While most of her time was devoted to raising a family and homemaking, she did work outside the home, first at the RS&P Railroad office and later for several years at the ASCS office and Blanche’s Bernina.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and particularly loved her Sunday school classmates, who formed a special bond in her later years. Thank you to those who routinely stopped by to visit and update her on church sermons and prayer requests over the last few years when she was unable to attend. No doubt she was a prayer warrior.
Anna Mae had a photographic memory when it came to placing people in Scurry County, who they were married to, where they had lived, etc. It was always amusing to see how conversations at coffee with guests would inevitably turn to discussions around the genealogy of various people, and few ever questioned her vast knowledge.
In her later years, she became quite an avid sports fan, particularly basketball and baseball. She faithfully watched Texas Rangers’ games and was quick to give updates and final results.
She will always be remembered for her talent as a seamstress and many awesome recipes which friends and family still enjoy. Most of all, she will be remembered as someone who was fiercely loyal to her family and someone with deep faith who loved the Lord.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Floy Deshazo, and her brother, Dale Deshazo.
Anna Mae is survived by her children, Sid Perry and his wife, Paula Falls, of Twin Falls, Idaho and Todd Perry of Lubbock; her grandchildren, Allison Hubbs and her husband, Phil, of Twin Falls, Idaho, Brooks Perry of Dalian, China and Kennedy Perry and Kade Perry, both of Austin; and her great-grandchildren, Violet Hubbs, Maggie Hubbs and Daphne Hubbs, all of Twin Falls, Idaho.
The family offered special thanks to her caregivers, Yolanda, Christina, Suzanne, Melissa, Virginia and Andi, who not only provided her care, but also companionship and friendship over the last few years. She had many family and friends close by who regularly checked up on her and helped in so many ways.

Dr. Robert Rakov

Dr. Robert Daniel Rakov died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019.
A celebration of life service for Dr. Rakov will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
LaJuana Robison
1934-2019
LaJuana Zoe Robison, 84, of Vinita, Okla., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at the Heartsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vinita.
A celebration of life service for Mrs. Robison will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Vinita with Pastor Skip McClain officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita under the direction of Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services in Vinita.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1934 in Sweetwater to Hugh and Clovis (Garner) Robinson. LaJuana attended school in Hermleigh, graduating in 1953. She married Howard Glenn Robison on Dec. 31, 1955 in Snyder. They moved from Snyder to Craig County, Okla. in 1962. LaJuana was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vinita for 57 years. She worked and managed the Montgomery Ward catalog store in Vinita for many years. LaJuana was later appointed secretary of the Craig County Election Board and served in that position for 16 years. She also helped on the farm, raising cattle and gardening. LaJuana enjoyed playing cards and dominos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kimberly A. Martin, in November 1996; and one brother, Robby Robinson, in September 2017.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Glenn Robison of the home; one son, Dee Robison of Vinita; one daughter, Kelly Williams and her husband, Jon, of Vinita; one son in-law, Jody Martin of Pawhuska, Okla.; one sister, Jean Taylor of Snyder; two brothers, Rex and Jim Robinson, both of Snyder; her grandchildren, Billy Berry of Grove, Okla., Dustin Robison and his wife, Miranda, and Denielle Shafer and her husband, Tyler, all of Vinita, Blakelea Brown and her husband, Mike, of Pawhuska and Jordan Pankey and her husband, Zach, of Stillwater, Okla.; and her great-grandchildren, Alice Pankey of Stillwater, Conagher Brown of Pawhuska and Abigail Robison and Caden Robison, both of Vinita.

Israel Torrez

Israel Torrez, 63, of Snyder, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2018.
Funeral mass for Mr. Torrez will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon John Bane officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Torrez was born on March 26, 1955 in Rio Hondo to Francisco and Aurora Torres.
Survivors include one sister, Virginia Torres of Snyder; one brother, Benny Torres of Snyder; one stepsister, Eva Garcia of Snyder; one sister-in-law, Dominga Torres of Snyder; and eight nephews, Augustine Torres and his wife, Heather, of Ira, Ralph Torres and his wife, Mary, and Martin Torres, all of Snyder, Richard Torres and his wife, Janie, of Sweetwater, Alvin Torres and his wife, Mary, of Brownwood, Torbio Torres of San Antonio and Jesse Torres and his wife, Cynthia, and Roy Torres and his wife, Rachel, all of Big Spring.
