Norman Fraley
1933-2017
Norman Maurice Fraley, 83, of Hermleigh, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017 in Big Spring.
Graveside service for Mr. Fraley will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Snyder Cemetery with the Rev. Nicky Johnson officiating. The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dorthey Hanks-Norwood
1926-2017
Our Heavenly Father called Dorthey home on Jan. 2, 2017 at Medical Center of McKinney.
Funeral service for Mrs. Hanks-Norwood will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with the Rev. Joshua Giddens officiating. Burial will follow at Slater Chapel Cemetery in Nolan.
Born on Dec. 28, 1926 to John McGruder and Annie Maude (Arnold) Lucus in Tahoka, she married Samuel Richard “Dick” Hanks in Sweetwater on June 19, 1943. She married G. Dexter Norwood in Snyder on Sept. 5 1997. She was a lifelong Baptist and member of North College Ave. Baptist Church. She helped build and was secretary for Hanks Oilfield Service Company until 1976. She enjoyed playing the piano and played for a number of years at her church, the Loraine Senior Center and Colorado City Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maude Lucus; one sister, Ruth Finch; two brothers, John Lucus and Joseph Lucus; her husbands, Samuel Richard Hanks and G. Dexter Norwood; and two children, Susan Hanks-Nichols and Bobby Hanks.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Hanks and his wife, Marta, of Abilene and James Hanks and his wife, Tamara, of Farmersville; one son-in-law, Lloyd Nichols of Snyder; one daughter-in-law, Sonja Hanks of Snyder; four grandchildren, Kathy Giron and her husband, Marco, and Richard Wayland Hanks and his spouse, Thais Grimm Hanks, all of Abilene, and Samuel and Nathanael Hanks, both of Farmersville; three great-grandchildren, Noah Giron, Selah Giron and Kayleigh Hanks, all of Abilene; and many nieces and nephews.

Gerri Henry
1932-2016
Geraldine “Gerri” Henry, 84, of Snyder, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 in Lubbock.
A celebration of life service for Mrs. Henry will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Villages of Snyder clubhouse. The service will be under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.

Alfred Kohl
1929-2016
Alfred A. “Rooster” Kohl, 87, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2016.
A funeral mass for Mr. Kohl will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Punkin Center.
Visitation will follow the service at the church hall.

James Lay
1928-2017
James Edward Lay was born on July 27, 1928. He married Orlena Morris on Aug. 2, 1946. Theirs was a great American love story, where he loved and protected her until he went to meet his Lord and Savior on Jan. 5, 2017 at the age of 88.
Graveside service for Mr. Lay will be held at noon Saturday at Hobbs Cemetery with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Colonial Hill Baptist Church fellowship hall.
He was a farmer and deacon in the Baptist church. Family always came first with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Lay and Vivian Lay, and two sisters, Mildred Davis and Mary Snowden.
Survivors include his wife, Orlena Lay; one daughter, Bobbie Anderson and her husband, Larry, of Snyder; one son, Tommy Lay and his wife, Janet, of San Angelo; five grandchildren, Tommy Holladay and his wife, Jolene, Angie Patterson and her husband, Robert, Tonya Gilbert and her husband, Jody, Juli Springer and her husband, Eric, and Tamara Cumbie and her husband, Sonny; 10 grandchildren, Hannah Betts and her husband, C.C., Chandler Patterson, Logan Patterson, Genna Patterson, Tanner Holladay, Harris Holladay, Bailey Springer, Breanne Springer, Grey Cumbie and Hays Cumbie; one great-great-grandson, Jaxton Betts; one sister, “Tootsie” Snowden; and one brother, Boyce Lay.
The family would like to thank the Springs Memory Care Center and Solaris Hospice in San Angelo for their wonderful staff.

Armando Martinez
1951-2017
Armando Martinez, 65, of Snyder, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 in Lubbock.
Funeral service for Mr. Martinez will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father John Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Martinez was born on July 3, 1951 in Raymondville to Sesario and Elvira (Pacheco) Martinez. 
He was preceded in death by his father; three brothers, Patricio, Juan and Roberto Martinez; and two sisters, Vicenta Rodriguez and Maria Del Carmen.
Survivors include his mother, Elvira Martinez of Snyder; two brothers, Sesario Martinez Jr. of Wolfforth and Raul Martinez of Anchorage, Alaska; seven sisters, Anselme Garcia of Raymondville, Irene Sauceda of Lamesa and Maria Alicia Leiba, Dora Martinez, Salem Martinez, Beatrice Solis and Elida Martinez, all of Snyder; 25 nephews; 23 nieces; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sandra Patrick
1946-2016
Sandra Patrick, 70, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 in Wichita Falls.
Graveside service for Mrs. Patrick will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Snyder Cemetery with Pastor Clint Sissom officiating. The service will be under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Gwen Sealy
1926-2017
Gwen Tate Sealy, 90, a lifelong Scurry County resident, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell  officiating. The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Born in Jayton on Dec. 6, 1926, she was the daughter of J.W. and Maggie Tate. Gwen graduated from Snyder High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University. Gwen married Don Lee Sealy on March 19, 1946 in Snyder. They were blessed with three daughters and further blessed with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will be missed greatly and remembered always, for she was a sweet and loving soul.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family and God above all else. For many years, she enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She loved music, especially hymns.
She was married to Don, the love of her life, for 70 years. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 2016.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Sanders Tate.
Survivors include her loving family, Phyllis Detrich, DonnaSue Sealy and Daniel Vogt, Gini and Allen Grimmett, Reese, Tara and Rantley Grimmett, Ashley, Luke, Avery and Kinlee Thomas and Robert, Autumn and Aubre Schiller; one nephew, Jerry Tate; and a very special niece, Lori Sealy.
