1935-2021

Apolina Alaniz, 85, of Snyder died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Odessa. 

A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. David Mendez officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hermleigh Cemetery with Father Rene Perez officiating. No visitation is planned at this time.

Ms. Alaniz was born July 23, 1935, in Charlotte to Pedro Alaniz and Manuela (Paiz) Alaniz. She was the youngest of 21 children. She married and went on to have 12 of her own children and lived as a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband; numerous brothers and sisters; two sons, Emilio Alaniz and Jose Villarial; one grandson, Radd Villarial; and a baby boy who died at birth.

Survivors include three daughters, Becky Mendez and her husband, Lonnie, of Sweetwater, Nora Contreras and her husband, Jose, of Commerce City, Colo., and Annie Bretado and her husband, Lupe, of Odessa; six sons, Jesse Oliva of Snyder, Lloyd Hernandez of Commerce City, Colo., Raymond Oliva of Seattle, Wash., Ricky Oliva of Midland, Adolph Villarial and his wife, Cyndi, of Norfolk, Va., and Floyd Hernandez and his wife, Nancy, of Lochbuie, Colo.; numerous brothers and sisters; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
