Zola Schlegel

1949-2020

Zola Schlegel, 70, of Lubbock, formerly of Snyder, died Monday, July 20, 2020.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Sanders Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Graveside services will follow in Anton Cemetery. Viewing will be come-and-go from 9 a.m.to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sanders Funeral Home. In order to maintain a safe come-and-go viewing, the funeral home will limit groups to three or fewer at a time.

Zola was born November 5, 1949, in Lubbock to Douglas  and Zelda Teague. She graduated from Anton High School in 1968, and attended West Texas State University. Zola lived and raised her family in Snyder, living here from 1976 until 2004 when she moved to Lubbock. She was a bookkeeper and human resources administrator during her work career. Zola was a member of the Methodist Church and was a Girl Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was active in many organizations including the United Way, Emmaus Community and prison ministry in Snyder. 

She was preceded in death by her father; and by her stepfather, Jimmy Barnett.

Survivors include her son, Russell Schlegel; her daughter, Kellie Schlegel; her mother; sister, Malva Teague-Smith; a nephew; two nieces; three grand-nieces; and a grand-nephew.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to a favorite charity.
