Martha Dee Banks
1945-2020

Mrs. Martha Dee Banks, 74, of Snyder died Wednesday, March 4, 2020. in Lubbock.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Saturday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Brett Banks officiating. Interment will follow at Snyder Cemetery.
Martha Banks was born March 11, 1945, in Pyote to Dewitt Patterson and Emma Gene (Boothe) Wells. Mrs. Banks was a long-time Snyder resident.  She worked at Wal-Mart, Eckerd, and CVS in retail positions, and also worked as a hairdresser.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Lee and Walter Banks.
Survivors include a son, John Banks of Snyder; a sister Pauline Alvarado and husband, Frank, of Snyder; a brother, David Wells and wife, Vanetta, of Andrews;
two grandsons, William Banks of Austin and Brett Banks of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry Alford Dodson
1938-2019

Larry Alford Dodson, age 80, of Sheridan died Nov. 18, 2019, in Houston.  
It was Larry’s wishes to be cremated and to have a memorial service honoring his life.  Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service for Larry being held at Deep Creek Country Church in Dunn at 3 p.m. Saturday. Arrangements are with Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Kilgore to Jim Dodson and Gertie Lee Cearley. Larry served his country in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Lillian Joyce Buchanan, on Jan. 17, 1983, in Lovington, N.M.
Larry spent most of his lifetime working as a truck driver, loving the open road.  His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.  He attended the Deep Creek Country Church of Dunn Texas where he was blessed to serve as an elder.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Everett; two sisters, Jean and Mickey; a son Larry Neil; and two grandsons, Kyle Sockwell and William Wright.
Survivors include his beloved wife; a brother, Bill Dodson; two sons, David Buchanan and Sonny Dodson; three daughters, Judy Ragland, Carla Courmier and Teresa Wright; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends along the way. 

Al Silmon
1929-2020

Al Silmon 90, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, in Lubbock.
Family visitation is planned from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Miller Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7th, 2020 at the funeral home chapel with Gloria Dunkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Silmon was born June 20, 1929, in Jacksonville to Thurlo and Goldie (Stewart) Silmon. He married Juanita Simmons on June 21, 1947, in Jacksonville. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 2004. He was an employee for E.L. Key Grain for over 40 years. He loved his grandchildren, fishing, playing dominoes and working on lawn equipment. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Cedrick Andrews; and two brothers, Billy Jack and Buddy Mack Scott.
Survivors include a son, Alvin Silmon and wife, Erma, of Lubbock; a daughter, Anita Malone and husband, Herman, of Lubbock; three grandsons, Zuri Malone of Dallas, Alkeli Silmon and wife, Billie, of Lubbock and Camar Jackson of El Paso; nine granddaughters, Sherasa Thomas and husband, Eric, of Dallas, Nikki Miller and husband, Adrian, of Austin, Diana Andrews of Austin, Yulon Malone of Dallas, Tori Borens, Sherne Borens, Latoya Clayton and husband, Arrlington, all of Arlington, Laterica Jackson of Midland and Cassandra Frye of Houston; a brother, Alvin Lee Silmon of Dallas; four sisters, Louise Silmon of Florida, Rose Nell Walker of Snyder, Lonnie Mae Silmon of Phoenix, Ariz. and Pearlie Jo Beverly of Waco; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
