Alvin Glenn McCowen

1931-2020

Alvin Glenn McCowen, 88, of Kaufman died Tuesday, May 5, 2020, after a short battle with pneumonia at the Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Sunnyvale.

Family visitation is planned for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Miller Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Snyder Cemetery with Mr. Darrell Chappell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.

Glenn was born in the Hollow Community in Scurry County on June 3, 1931. Glenn was the seventh child of S.E. and Edna McCowen of Snyder. Glenn attended rural school at Hollow, Dunn and Crowder. Glenn graduated in the class of 1948 at Snyder High School. Glenn married his longtime girlfriend, Marinell Wilson, on June 17, 1950, at her home in the Ennis Creek community, and lived in Snyder until September of 1953. Glenn worked in the oil and gas industry, and took a job transfer to Corpus Christi. He lived there until April of 2008, moving to Kaufman after retirement. Glenn was a long time member of the Church of Christi and worshiped with the Landmark Church of Christ in Kaufman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, infant son Glenn Franklin and daughter, Jenny Lou; three brothers, Allon, Roy and Lloyd; four sisters, Marie Schell, Laure Haney, Loyce Thompson and Shirley Bratton.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronald and his wife, Elena, of Fort Worth; and Kenny and his wife, Mattie, of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Mike McCowen and his wife, Summer, of Snyder, Kenny McCowen and his wife, Jamie, of Mansfield, Mary McCowen of Fort Worth and Teresa Baker and her husband, Troy, of the Woodlands; two step-grandchildren, Kimberly and Bradley Borski of Cleveland; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Clint and his wife, Frances, of Snyder, and Don and his wife, Linda, of San Angelo; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
