Raymond Alarcon
1947-2017
Raymond B. Alarcon, 70, of Snyder, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017.
Funeral mass for Mr. Alarcon will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Raj Arokiasamy officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Born on Jan. 10, 1947 in Poteet to Joaquin and Romona (Briones) Alarcon, he married Adelia Puente on Oct. 17, 1963 in Snyder. He spent many years in the oilfield. He also worked at Cogdell Memorial Hospital, where people knew him as “Dr. Ray.” He would spend his time uplifting, counseling and encouraging all of those he came in contact with. Raymond never met a stranger. His pastimes included barbecuing with his family and gambling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank Alarcon, one sister, Pauline Carrisalez, one great-grandchild, Phoenix Alarcon, and one daughter-in-law, Brenda Alarcon.
Survivors include his wife, Adelia Alarcon of Snyder; four sons, Robert Alarcon and his wife, Lisa, Ray Alarcon and his wife, Pamela, Randy Alarcon and Rodney Alarcon and his wife, Margo, all of Snyder; two brothers, Joaquin Alarcon Jr. and his wife, Rosa, of Snyder and Johnny Alarcon and his wife, Rosa, of Austin; three sisters, Mary Helen Martinez and her husband, Antonio, and Susie Pena and her husband, Ruben, all of Snyder, and Eva Guerra of Poteet; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nolan Treadway
1942-2017
Nolan Lee Treadway, 75, of Snyder, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017.
Funeral service for Mr. Treadway will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel with Tony McCreery and Josh Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born on March 29, 1942 in Gorman to Windford and Murlene (Parker) Treadway, he was a graduate of Ira High School. Nolan was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Linda Stewart on Jan. 5, 1964 in Snyder. He spent the rest of his career working in the oilfield. Nolan enjoyed yard work, gardening and above all, his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Windford, his mother, Murlene, his stepfather, Lloyd Goswick, one grandchild, McKennon Hubbard, and one brother, William Pettijohn.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Snyder; two daughters, Teresa Kariainen and her husband, Ernie, of Snyder and Joan Ramirez and her husband, Barnie, of Hermleigh; one son, Nolan Treadway II and his wife, Becky, of Snyder; one sister, Gloria Wickliffe of Snyder; two brothers, B.J. Pettijohn of Snyder and Raymond Goswick of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five granddaughters, Megan Hubbard and her husband, Terrence, Melanie Kariainen and Morgan Kariainen, all of Snyder, Gloria Bingham and her husband, Jacob, of Tahoka and Keegan Ramirez of Hermleigh; five grandsons, Junior Ramirez and his wife, Chelsea, and Trey Treadway, all of Snyder, Christopher Norris of Marfa and John Gilber and Billy Gilber, both of Idalou; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Kariainen, Raegan Hubbard, Jace Ramirez and Avery Ramirez, all of Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty Smith
1929-2017
Betty Jean Smith, 88, of Big Spring and formerly of Snyder, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 in a Big Spring hospital.
A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
Jean was born on March 22, 1929 in Oklahoma and married Jake Smith on May 22, 1967 in Carlsbad, N.M. Jean was the assistant director of the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center in Snyder for many years. She moved to Big Spring in 2002. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Big Spring.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Terry Duncan and Woody Duncan.
Survivors include her husband, Jake Smith of Big Spring; five children, Randy Duncan and his wife, Donna, of Lovington, N.M., Linda Park of Big Spring, Diane Biggers and her husband, Randy, of Levelland, Debra Lowder and her husband, Mike, of Early, and Jay Smith and his wife, Brenda, of Katy; one brother, Orthar Dean Furrh; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Stanley Weston
1935-2017
Stanley Joe Weston died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at the age of 82.
A memorial service for Mr. Weston will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. A reception will be held following the service at the Weston residence in Horseshoe Bay.
Stanley was born in Merkel on March 21, 1935 to Joe and Lena Demere Weston. Stanley started his adult life working on ranches in West Texas, Central Texas and then turned a hobby into a business with Weston Welding. Many ranches in Texas, and one in Kentucky, have Weston built cattle and horse pens and countless Horseshoe Bay homes have fences and entry ways by Weston Welding. The times that Norman Hurd drove up and said “welder can we build this drawing,” which was on the back of an envelope, were numerous and led to a longtime friendship and mutual admiration. Mr. Hurd referred to Stanley as his artist and welder. Stanley soon learned, “Just tack it, Mr. Hurd is gonna change it before it was done.” Stanley was also very talented in all phases of leather work and stamping.
Stanley was a man of few words, but meant them. The times that he worked into the night to repair a piece of construction equipment so that the owner could be back on the job the next morning were legendary. He had a strong bond to people that worked as hard as he did.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest brother, Tad Weston.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Iva; two daughters, Robben and her husband, Johnnie, of Meadowlake and Randy and her husband, Kirby, of Sylvester; his chosen son, Shawn McDuffie and his wife, Cheryl, of Magnolia; two grandsons, Layne Weston Thompson and his friend, Karyn Myers, and Ethan Jacob Head and his friend, Sarah Lampkin; one granddaughter, Amanda McDuffie; one sister, Mary Tom Snoddy of Midland; one brother, Bill Weston of Kingsbury; and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vic Counts, Kim Robertson, Leslie Bond, Jack Pitts, Clay Simmons and Gary Thomas.
