Bill Bowlin

1923-2017

William Benton “Bill” Bowlin, 93, of Odessa and formerly of Snyder, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Parks Senior Living facility.  

A memorial service for Mr. Bowlin will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

He was born on Sept. 30, 1923 to William Rhea and Mary Lois (Parmer) Bowlin in Hermleigh. Mr. Bowlin was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. While stationed at Mount Farm, England, he married Iris Winifred Barrett at Marsh Baldon, Oxfordshire on Feb. 3, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Iris Bowlin; one daughter, Pamela Sue; one brother, Glen; one sister, Fay Hamilton; one grandson, Tony Repola; and two nephews, Jeff Lightfoot and Tim Hamilton.

Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Mikelonis and her husband, Paul, of Clifton, Ariz. and Kay Rowe and her husband, Larry, of Durango, Calif.; one son, Barrie Bowlin of Austin; one sister, Mary Lightfoot of Midland; a special friend, Marjorie Cooper of Odessa; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

Jack Cathey Sr.

1930-2017

Jack R. Cathey Sr., 87, of Big Spring, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 at his residence, after a short illness, surrounded by his family and friends. 

Funeral service for Mr. Cathey will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Ken McMeans and Ricky Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jack was born in Big Spring at Hall Bennett Hospital on Feb. 21, 1930 to Lilly Mae and Wacey Wayne Cathey. Jack and Katie were married for 67 years, and they resided in Big Spring. They were well known for their love of country dancing at Stampede for 50 years with all their friends. They owned and operated Cathey Construction, Inc., for 60 years. He was a loving husband and father, builder, contractor, boilermaker, welder, farmer, brakeman, carpenter and an innovative perfectionist “who did it his way.” Jack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Coahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Cathey; one son, Jack R. Cathey Jr. and his wife, Lynda, of Weatherford; two daughters, Linda L. Riley and her husband, Chuck, of Jourdanton and Kim Rath and her husband, John, of Austin; three granddaughters; one brother, Bobby Cathey and his wife, Ruth; two nephews, Mike Cathey and Wacey Cathey; and those friends and adopted families whom he loved.

Jose Lopez Sr.

1952-2017

Jose Luis Lopez Sr., 64, of Snyder, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 in Snyder. 

Funeral mass for Mr. Lopez will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Raj Arokiasamy officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

A rosary will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Born on Nov. 8, 1952 in Morelos, Coahua, Mexico to Humberto and Candelaria (Rodriguez) Lopez, he married Maria Rodriguez on Jan. 7, 1978 in Zaragoza, Mexico. They were married for 33 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Humberto Lopez, one son, Roberto Lopez, and one sister, Maria Victoria Harrison. 

Survivors include his mother, Candelaria (Rodriguez) Lopez of San Angelo; two daughters, Maritza Juarez and her husband, Ubaldo, of Snyder and Ginelda Martinez and her husband, Santiago, of San Angelo; one son, Jose Luis Lopez Jr. and his wife, Gloria, of Snyder; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Adrianna, Analey, Angel and Adalynn Juarez, all of Snyder, and Elana Martinez and Satiago I. Martinez, both of San Angelo; and one brother, Juan Lopez of San Angelo.

Joe Santos Jr.

1961-2017

Joe Angel Santos Jr., 56, of Snyder, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 in Lake Havasu City.

Funeral service for Mr. Santos will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Daniel Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Born on Feb. 12, 1961 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Joe and Alexis (Guerrero) Santos, he married Antonia Alejandro on March 17, 2010 in Abilene. Mr. Santos was a truck driver — he was a highway cowboy. He was a loving father and husband and a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving as a nuclear weapons specialist for 13 years. He loved nature and pointing out the beauty of our world. He was gracious, magnanimous and would give you the shirt off his back. Mr. Santos enjoyed pulling over to the side of the road and  slow dancing with his wife to their favorite songs under the perfect sunset. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a huge prankster. He loved his country and loved Texas and the Dallas Cowboys. Mr. Santos thought about everyone else’s happiness, before his own. He received numerous military honors and accolades and was honorably discharged from the Army. He spoke more than four different languages and was a man of faith. 

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Antonia Santos of Snyder; one daughter, Juliet Santos; seven sons, Jeremiah Santos, Cash Figueroa, Joseph Hernandez, Nick Santos, Reno Santos, Frank Santos and Angel Santos; his father, Joe Santos Sr.; two sisters, Yvette Jimenez  and her husband, Belen, and Angelica Santos and her husband, Stevie; two sisters-in-law, Leslie Alejandro and Kim Hernandez; two brothers, Gregory Santos and his wife, Tina, and Gary Santos and his wife, Jannelle; and two brothers-in-law, Kevin Alejandro and Daniel Hernandez.

Connie Womack

1938-2017

Connie Sue Womack, 79, of Snyder, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 in Snyder.

Funeral service for Mrs. Womack will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with the Rev. Clay Giddens officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. 

Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born on Jan. 13, 1938 in Snyder to Eugene and Sybil (Hull) Wiley, she married Jackie W. Womack Sr. on Dec. 7, 1957 in Snyder.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Jackie Womack Jr. and Darrel Ray Womack; and two siblings, Raymond Weldon Wiley and Donnie Lue Halpain.

Survivors include her husband, Jackie  Wright Womack of Snyder; two daughters, Peggy Womack of Snyder and Karen Spence of Leander; five grandchildren, Haley Robertson and her husband, Eric, of Lubbock, Charles Allen and his wife, Aubrey, of Lewisville, Kristi Green of Kilgore, Dusty Davis of Snyder and Jarod Womack and his wife, Dawn, of Elm Mott; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Zayden, Kyler, Abigail, Evelyn, Chelsey, Audrina, Alyssa, Keaton, Raelin and Kaiden; and one great-great-grandchild, J.R. LySean
