The Snyder ISD board of trustees on Tuesday interviewed three superintendent search firms and will meet at a later date to make the selection.

Trustees interviewed Bob Griggs & Associates, Executive Search Services of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) and Rhonda Crass with Leasor Crass.

Costs ranged from $10,500 for Griggs, $7,500 for TASB and $1,500 for Leasor Crass. Travel and other expenses will be added for all the search firms.

All three firms vowed to involve the community and district employees in the search and only one, Griggs, provided the trustees with an estimated time line. The other two firms said they would leave the timeline up to the school board.

The firms all said that there is no bad time to be hiring a superintendent as there are advantages and disadvantages for any time of the school year.

Griggs’ proposed time line calls for a lone finalist to be named on Nov. 19.

All three firms said they would keep the list of applicants confidential and two, Griggs and TASB, said they would pare down the list of applicants themselves.

Crass said she would provide the board with up to 20 candidates and the board would then decide who to interview.

“And you can recommend someone,” Crass said. “Call me and let me know who.”
