The area playoff bracket includes a pair of six-man football games with four Top 10 teams facing each other.
The No. 5 Ira Bulldogs and the No. 1 Borden County Coyotes prepare for match-ups against other Top 10 teams. The Bulldogs will face the No. 6 White Deer Bucks in the area round for the second straight year. The Bucks got the best of the Bulldogs last year, eliminating Ira with a 68-42 win.
The two teams will meet again Friday, this time at Wildcat Stadium in Littlefield. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Coyotes also face a highly ranked opponent in the Balmorhea Bears. The Bears spent much of the 2019 season ranked as the state’s best team, according to Dave Campbells Texas Football, before a 68-44 loss to Rankin dethroned them.
The Coyotes took over the top spot following the Bears’ loss, setting the stage for clash between two titans at Walton Field in Kermit on Friday. Kick-off will be at 7 p.m.
