The Snyder eighth grade A football team shut out Sweetwater 30-0 at Tiger Stadium Thursday.
Derek Dominguez put Snyder on the board by returning the opening kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown. Bryce Ford ran for the two-point conversion.
Snyder recovered an onside kick and Dominguez scored on a 10-yard run. Ford added the two-point conversion as Snyder held a 16-0 lead. Jorge Olivares returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown and later scored on a 40-yard run.
Smith had an interception.
Eighth Grade B 8, Sweetwater 6
The Snyder eighth grade B team (1-0-1) beat Sweetwater, 8-6.
Hunter Stewart threw a touchdown pass to Jerek Pena and Mason Haynes ran for the two-point conversion
“The defense played well,” coach Derek Dallas said. “Jaylon James dominated the Sweetwater offensive line.”
Sweetwater 16, Seventh Grade A 6
The Snyder seventh grade A team lost to Sweetwater, 16-6.
Dyllon Angeley completed two 20-yard passes. Martin Ortiz rushed for 70 yards.
Adan Hernandez led the defense with three sacks.
Sweetwater 8, Seventh Grade B 6
Angel Lujan scored on a 40-yard touchdown run in the Snyder seventh grade B team’s 8-6 loss to Sweetwater.
Aaron Mendoza recovered a fumble forced by A.J. Ruiz. Shane Wiseman also forced a fumble.
