CASPER, Wyo.—  Western Texas College rodeo freshmen bull rider Colton Fritzlan finished fifth out of 41 competitors at the College National Finals Rodeo Saturday.
Fritzlan failed to record a score on his final run of the rodeo, but still finished with 172.5 points.
Fritzlan scored an 82 on his first run last Monday and a 76.5 on his last preliminary ride Thursday, and those two rides secured him a top five finish.
Fellow WTC athlete Rooster Yazzie, a freshmen steer wrestler, also qualified for the final round.
Yazzie recorded a time of 7.6 seconds on his final run, and finished 11th overall.
As a team, WTC finished 27th out of 54 schools at the rodeo.
“I am really proud of how Colten and Rooster performed at the college finals this year,” WTC rodeo coach Greg Rhodes said.
