HERMLEIGH — A 24-point performance from senior Makia Gonzales powered the Hermleigh Lady Cardinals to a 44-34 win over Westbrook Saturday as the Lady Cardinals continued to dominate District 13-1A play.
Gonzales scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to as she lifted her team to its sixth straight win and third straight district win.
Senior Ryleigh Benitez added 10 points and junior Brittany Smith connected on a pair of 3-pointers and scored another eight points to add to the effort.
The win means Hermleigh remains the only undefeated team in District 13-1A play, putting them atop the district standings. They will host Ira at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
