The Snyder girls’ golf team extended its lead in the District 5-4A championship on Thursday in San Angelo.
The Lady Tigers shot a 357 Thursday at Bentwood Country Club and have a two-round total of 706 heading into the final round, which will be held Wednesday at the Sammy Baugh Golf Course. Snyder II moved into second place by shooting 384 on Thursday and has a two-round total of 779. The top two teams will advance to the regional tournament later this month.
Seven Snyder golfers are currently in the top 10, including Cylie Velasquez and AmyAnn Villanueva, who are first and second, respectively. Velasquez has a two-round total of 168 while Villanueva is four shots behind at 172. Jalia Williams is fifth with a 180 and rounding out the Snyder I scores are Laura Ortegon (eighth, 189) and Tyleigh Price (10th, 198).
Kalysa Burleson leads the Snyder II scoring with a 182, which is sixth in the standings. Jordyn Stewart is seventh at 187. Other Snyder II scores are Abby Alvarado (17th, 203) and Brailynn Garcia (25th, 220).
Erin Crane is currently 24th at 217 playing as an individual while Dani Greer is 28th at 223. Tinlee Roland, who did not play in the first round, carded a 119 in the second round.
