Lady Tigers finish second at stampede

ABILENE — Yulissa Rios and Bailey Faulkenbery finished among the top 10 runners to help the Snyder Lady Tigers claim second place at the Hardin-Simmons University High School Cross Country Stampede at Nelson Park Saturday.

Rios was second in the individual standings while Faulkenbery finished in eighth place. Bailey Garcia claimed 14th place, Keely Bartels finished 16th and Maria Cabrera was 24th.

Four other SHS runners also competed — Gisselle Hernandez, 25th; Janet Hernandez, 26th; Jackie Cabrera, 27th; and Michelle Rios, 36th.

Hunter McCowen was sixth in the boys’ race while Juan Jaramillo was 10th. Benny Pindea finished 17th, Donovan Soria was 22nd and Seth Salazar was 29th.

Corey Landlin and Kobe Roemisch had the best performances for the eighth grade boys by finishing first and second, respectively. Kade Hunter was fourth. 

In the girls’ race, Madelyn Cobb claimed second place, followed by Kalli Gamble and Tegan Dickson in third and fourth place, respectively.

Heli Cabrera won the seventh grade boys’ race while Adam Negrete was second.

Snyder will compete at the Cowboy Classic in Abilene on Saturday.
