BROWNWOOD — The Snyder girls’ seventh grade Black basketball team defeated Bangs to win the silver bracket of the Brownwood tournament Saturday.
Mia Castor and Heaven Miles each scored four points in the 12-6 win.
Earlier Saturday, Snyder lost to Cross Plains 29-9 and defeated Eastland, 19-10. Miranda Aamaya had four points against Cross Plains. Clarissa Rios scored six points against Eastland.
Snyder began the tournament Thursday by defeating Eastland, 24-18. Bianca Larrea scored eight points.
“I’m so proud of these players,” coach A’lex Koonce said. “They did awesome, learned so much and never gave up. I hope they keep up the hard work.”

Eighth Grade
The Snyder girls’ eighth grade Black basketball team finished second at the Brownwood tournament.
Snyder defeated Eastland 34-6 and Early 27-18 Thursday. On Saturday, the Lady Tigers beat Early 29-10 and lost to Brownwood 28-8 in the championship game.
“I’m proud of the players and their teamwork and sportsmanship this weekend,” coach Amy Grotjohn said.
Snyder will host Midland Christian Thursday. The seventh and eighth grade Black teams will play at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Gold teams at 5:30 p.m.
