Several local players named in TGCA awards

The Texas Girl Coaches Association released its girls’ basketball all-state awards earlier this week and several Scurry County athletes were recognized.
From the Snyder Lady Tigers, senior Natalee James and junior Kamiah Davis were named to the 4A all-state list. Davis led the Lady Tigers in scoring and James was named the District 5-4A MVP after the Lady Tigers went 19-15 en route to a second place finish in the district.
James was also named to the TGCA Academic all-state team, alongside fellow senior Erin Crane.
Also appearing on the list were Hermleigh seniors Makia Gonzales and Ryleigh Benitez.
The teammates were named in the 1A division and both played key roles in helping the Lady Cardinals win a third straight district title in 2020.
