Simms named player of the week for the second time this season

For the second time this season, Western Texas College men’s basketball sophomore Tafari Simms was named the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Simms averaged 19 points and nine rebounds in the Westerners’ wins over Midland College and Frank Phillips College last week.
Simms won the award alongside the Northern representative, Kedrian Johnson of Temple College, and the Dallas representative ,Calvin Williams of Eastfield College.
Simms is a big reason why the Westerners have won four straight and their last two WJCAC games. So far this season, he is averaging 12.4 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game and has shot 50.9 percent from the field.
Simms and his teammates will hit the road when WTC travels to Odessa College. Both teams will play today, with the Lady Westerners playing at 6:30 p.m. and the mens’ team to follow.
