It was a successful weekend for the Snyder Junior High School girls’ basketball teams.
The seventh grade A-Team was dominant in its two wins. On Thursday, Snyder defeated Midland Christian 41-12 thanks to a 16-point effort from Jayci Medrano.
Iverie Castillo and Brodee Jennings each added six points and Tayla Jamison and Micaela Martinez each scored four.
On Saturday, the Lady Tigers took on Lamesa and once again scored more than 40 points en route to a 2-0 weekend. Jennings and Nevaeh Torrez each scored 11 points and Jamison and Castillo added seven each as the Lady Tigers defeated Lamesa, 48-11.
Snyder stayed hot in a 39-21 win over Big Spring Monday and improved to 11-0 this season.
The seventh grade B-Team wrapped up its run in the tournament with a 25-12 win over Big Spring Saturday, going 2-0 in tournament play as well.
The eight grade A-Team defeated Lamesa 34-20 on Thursday thanks to a 20-point performance from Aaliyah Braziel.
On Saturday, the Lady Tigers took on Hermleigh in a thriller. Despite getting 10 points from Jordyn Medrano and nine points from Braziel, Snyder fell to the Lady Cardinals 35-26 to wrap up tournament play 1-1.
The Lady Tigers bounced back with a 67-18 win over Big Spring Monday. Medrano scored 25 points and nailed three 3-pointers to power her team to the win. Peyten Grope and Braziel each scored 14 points.
All four teams will return to action when they travel to Levelland on Jan. 20.
