SJHS volleyball teams win three games

BIG SPRING — Three Snyder Junior High School volleyball teams defeated Big Spring Monday.

The eighth grade Black team won in three sets, 25-22, 15-25, 15-7. The eighth grade Gold team also won in three sets, 26-24, 23-25, 15-11. The seventh grade Black team defeated Big Spring, 25-18, 25-18.

Kirsten Luera led the eighth grade Black team with seven service points. Baylee Freeman, Alexia Estrada and Angelina Gutierrez each had five service points.

“I’m proud of how the team played and keeps improving,” coach Amy Grotjohn said. “I’m looking forward to finishing the season strong.

Caira Galvan led the eighth grade Gold team with eight service points. 

Abby Benitez and Briana Richburg had seven service points.

“The girls played hard and pushed through for the win,” coach Bianca Gonzalez said.

Courtney Soltero and Mia Castor finished with eight service points for the seventh grade Black team. Neheva Williams had seven service points.

“The girls are getting better and better every match,” coach A’lex Koonce said.

SJHS will play at Midland Christian on Sept. 28.

Snyder eighth grade Black team — Kirsten Luera 7, Baylee Freeman 5, Alexia Estrada 5, Angelina Gutierrez 5, Victoria Cross 4, Shelby Salinas 2.

Snyder eighth grade Gold team — Caira Galvan 8, Abby Benitez 7, Briana Richburg 7, Alex Salinas 4, Madison Lieb 3, Ke’Odisty Daniels 3.

Snyder seventh grade Black team — Courtney Soltero 8, Mia Castor 8, Neheva Williams 7, Jackie Villarreal 4, Precious Davis 4, Ava Martinez 1.
