The Snyder 11-and-under all-stars continued its dominance in pool play at the District 5 Little League International Tournament.

Snyder defeated Sweetwater 25-0 at Logan Field Monday and will wait to see if it will receive the top seed and first-round bye for bracket play. In pool play, Snyder scored 55 runs, had 37 hits and shut out both opponents. The pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts, four walks and allowed three hits in two run-rule wins.

Against Sweetwater, Hagan Gordon hit a single and two doubles with three RBIs. Mateo Hernandez had a triple and home run with four RBIs. Aythen Tarin hit a double and home run and Dominic Dominguez had a grand slam and double with five RBIs.

“It was another game that got out of hand, but you can’t tell the players to quit scoring,” Snyder manager Joel Tarin said. “I like the way that the team is playing before the tournament really starts. They came out swinging the bats and ready to play.”

Easton Stewart allowed one hit with two strikeouts and two walks in three innings. Anthony Luna struck out one and walked one in the fourth inning.

“Our pitching was great once again,” Tarin said. “We hit some shots over the fence. We were swinging the bats well.”

Snyder also played the second straight game without committing an error.

“Our defense is making plays,” Tarin said. “I’m proud of how we are playing defense. That shows what we do in practice helps us to play well during the games.”

Snyder scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Stewart hit an RBI single and later scored on an error.

In the second inning, Snyder scored 14 runs on 11 hits. Hernandez hit a two-run triple and later in the inning hit a two-run home run. Aythen Tarin hit a solo home run while Gordon and Jaxton West hit RBI singles. Snyder scored three runs on errors and two runs each on wild pitches and passed balls.

Dominguez’ grand slam highlighted an 11-run third inning. Gordon and West hit RBI singles and Luna had an RBI-double. Three runs scored on errors and one run on a groundout.

“We hope to find out by Wednesday if we get the top seed and bye,” Tarin said. “We will keep hitting the practice field hard. That’s where you earn everything. How we practice will show if we will continue to do well.”
