Snyder cross country claims first, second at Hamlin Invitational

In an event that included only 21 boys’ runners, Snyder claimed the Hamlin Cross Country Invitational on Wednesday.
Christian Escobedo claimed his fourth straight first place finish with a time of 16:35. Corey Landin, Antonio Martinez, Jeremiah Rodriguez and Daniel Esparza followed him to make up the rest of the top five finishers.
In the girls’ race, Snyder’s Kim Cortes was fifth with a time of 14:44. Right behind her in sixth was Mary Kerr with a time of 14:49. As a team, the Lady Tigers finished second.
Snyder will take the momentum into the Lubbock ISD Invitational on Saturday, a race in which Snyder head coach Bob Campbell said should include more than 100 runners.
