SAN ANGELO — Four Snyder players scored in double figures in a 53-37 victory over Jayton in at the Doug McCutcheon Memorial Basketball Tournament Thursday.
Abram Smith scored 18 points while Andrew Medina added 11 points. Kalen Cowley and Trey Samaniego each scored 10 points.
“We came out a little slow and committed too many fouls in the first half,” Snyder head coach Lee Scott said. “We were ahead 24-23 at halftime and stepped up our play in the second half. We stepped it up defensively and executed better on offense. I’m proud of our effort in the second half. We need to continue to play that way.”
The Tigers (2-3) were scheduled to play Perryton at 1 p.m. and Christoval at 5:30 p.m. today. Teams will be assigned to a bracket on Saturday.

ALBANY — The Snyder Lady Tigers lost to the Wylie JV, 50-32, and Santo, 53-36, in pool games at the Albany Lady Lion Classic.
Snyder trailed the Wylie JV 11-7 after the first quarter. The Wylie JV outscored the Lady Tigers 12-3 in the second quarter to take a 23-10 lead.
Kirsti Pierce led Snyder with nine points while Natalee James, Allegra Escobedo and Michelle Rios each had five points.
Santo built a 17-7 first quarter lead and increased the advantage to 33-14 at halftime. Snyder outscored Santo 22-20 during the second half. Nicole Martinez scored nine points while Escobedo added seven points.

Snyder Freshmen Boys
BLACKWELL — The Snyder freshmen outscored Hermleigh 14-9 during the fourth quarter to claim a 43-42 win in the boys’ quarterfinals at the Oak Creek Classic.
Snyder led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers scored only two points during the second quarter as Hermleigh built a 22-18 halftime lead. Hermleigh led 33-29 going into the fourth quarter.
Dylan Sorrells scored 14 points for Hermleigh. Jayden Samaniego led Snyder with 14 points.
Snyder was scheduled to play Rotan in the semifinals at 2 p.m. today. Hermleigh played Panther Creek in the consolation bracket at 9 a.m. today.
Hermleigh Girls
BLACKWELL — The Hermleigh Lady Cardinals won their ninth consecutive game with a 54-16 win over Hamlin in the quarterfinals of the Oak Creek Classic.
Hermleigh built a 17-2 first-quarter lead and held a 33-7 halftime lead. The Lady Cardinals took a 47-10 lead into the fourth quarter.
Aaliyah Sneed scored a game-high 22 points while Lillyan Digby and Brishaya Sneed each had 11 points.
Hermleigh (9-0) was scheduled to play Rotan in the semifinals at 2 p.m. today.

Ira Girls
RANKIN — The Ira Lady Bulldogs defeated Iraan, 63-23, and Sierra Blanca, 55-18, in pool play at the Rankin Girls Tournament.
Ira (9-1) led 15-5 after the first quarter and 33-5 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs held a 49-17 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Madison Peterson scored 14 points while Alyssa Goodwin and Abby Manning each had 12.
Against Sierra Blanca, Ira broke the game open with a 21-4 second-quarter run to build a 32-11 halftime lead. The Lady Bulldogs increased the lead to 47-14 by the end of the third quarter.
Goodwin led the offense with 17 points while Peterson added nine points.

ROSCOE — The Ira Bulldogs lost to Hamlin 48-43 in the boys’ quarterfinals of the Highland Hilltop Classic.
Ira trailed 23-19 at halftime and 34-27 by the end of the third quarter. Anthony Sosa scored nine points and Karson Valentine had eight points.
Ira (1-3) was scheduled to play in the consolation bracket at 5 p.m. today.
