Snyder freshmen advance to tournament final

BLACKWELL — The Snyder freshman team advanced to the finals of the Oak Creek Basketball Classic by defeating Rotan 39-27 on Friday.
Kobe Roemisch led the offense with 11 points. Ryan Rodriguez had nine points while Jayden Samaniego and Teafale Lenard each scored six points.
Snyder began the tournament with a 43-42 victory over Hermleigh. Jayden Samaniego scored 14 points and Lenard added 12 points. Dylan Sorrells led Hermleigh with 12 points.
The championship game was scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m. today.

BLACKWELL — The Hermleigh Cardinals defeated Panther Creek 50-35 in the consolation semifinals of the Oak Creek Classic.
Eli Garza led the offense with 16 points while Dylan Sorrells and Chase Carr each had eight points
The Cardinals were scheduled to play in the consolation finals at 11:30 a.m. today.

Snyder Girls
ALBANY — The Snyder Lady Tigers lost to the Merkel JV 37-19 in pool play at the Albany Lady Lion Classic.
Snyder trailed 11-2 at the end of the first quarter and 21-10 at halftime. The Lady Tigers were outscored 16-9 in the second half.
Kirsti Pierce scored eight points and Allegra Escobedo had six points.
Snyder was scheduled to play at 10:40 a.m. today

SAN ANGELO — The Snyder Tigers lost to Perryton 44-30 and Christoval 43-32 in pool play at the Doug McCutcheon Memorial Tournament Friday.
No individual scoring was available at press time.
Snyder was scheduled to start bracket play today.
Hermleigh Girls
BLACKBALL — The Hermleigh Lady Cardinals defeated Rotan 61-15 in the semifinals of the Oak Creek Basketball Classic Friday.
Hermleigh led 12-3 at the end of the first quarter and 37-7 at halftime. The Lady Cardinals outscored Rotan 22-8 during the second half.
Kiki Gonzales scored 12 points. Aaliyah Sneed, Brishaya Sneed and Kelsey Digby each had 10 points.
Hermleigh (10-0) will play in the tournament final at 4:30 p.m. today.

RANKIN — The Ira Lady Bulldogs advanced to the Rankin Girls Tournament final by defeating Midland Trinity 64-25 and Van Horn 62-24.
Madison Peterson scored 20 points against Trinity while Lindsey Womack added 13 points.
Karina Cowan led the offense against Van Horn with 17 points. Peterson scored 14 points and Alyssa Goodwin had 12 points.

ROSCOE — The Ira Bulldogs defeated Westbrook 38-32 in the consolation semifinals of the Highland Hilltop Classic.
Ira trailed 19-14 at halftime before rallying with an 11-3 run to take the lead by the end of the third quarter.
Anthony Sosa and Brayden Corley each scored 13 points.
Ira was scheduled to play Sterling City in the consolation final at 11:30 a.m. today.
