Body

The Snyder News All-Decade series turns its attention to Ira and Hermleigh boys’ basketball over the past decade.
First Team
Tyler Goodwin
Ira, 2011 to 2014

The oldest of the three Goodwin brothers and one of two on today’s list, Tyler Goodwin was a solid all-around player in his four-year basketball career the Bulldogs.
As a sophomore, Goodwin was a shutdown defender for the Bulldogs, earning the district Defensive MVP award at the season’s end.
Over the next two years, Goodwin was the go-to scorer for the Bulldogs.
Just like he did as a quarterback for the Bulldog football team, Goodwin led the Bulldogs to a lot of wins over the next two years, earning back-to-back district MVP awards each year.
After graduating in 2014, Goodwin attended Texas Tech University and is now a coach at Littlefield ISD.
Logan Morris
Ira, 2012 to 2015

While he was regarded as one of the best players in six-man football, Morris was just as lethal on the court.
As a freshman in 2012, Morris was named Newcomer of the Year playing alongside his older brother Lance. Logan Morris went on to earn an individual award in all four years of his high school career.
In 2013 and 2014, he was named the district Defensive MVP. In 2013, Morris averaged five steals per game.
In 2014, Morris took on more of the offensive responsibility. He averaged 16 points per game and was named the district’s MVP.
Karson Valentine
Ira, 2017 to 2020

Another four-year starter, Valentine used his height and athleticism to excel on the court. Valentine was named the Newcomer of the Year in 2017 and earned first team all-district honors in 2018.
In 2019, as a junior, Valentine averaged 16 points per game, second in the district and was named the district’s Offensive Player of the Year.
As a senior, Valentine flipped the script and was named the district’s Defensive Player of the Year and earned second team all-state and first team all-region honors.
Nathan Goodwin
Ira, 2017 to 2020

The youngest brother of Tyler Goodwin, Nathan Goodwin was a consistent presence for the Bulldogs for four years. As a freshman, Goodwin earned second team all-district honors and handled the point guard duties.
Over the next two years, Goodwin earned first team all-district honors twice and was named to the all-region team in 2019 after averaging 8.2 points per game.
In his senior season, Goodwin was the offensive leader for the Bulldogs and was named the district co-Offensive MVP.
Goodwin earned his second all-region honor and finished his career with four all-district selections.
Kobe Roemisch
Hermleigh, 2019 to 2020

What Roemisch accomplished in his two years in the red and white is hard to top.
He burst onto the scene in 2019, averaging more than 20 points per game on his way to a district MVP title.
As a senior, Roemisch became a leader for the Cardinal program and answered the call when his team needed him. He came through with several game-winning buzzer beaters and played a big factor in the Cardinals’ first playoff victory in more than 100 years.
Roemisch averaged a double-double in 2020 and was named the district’s co-Offensive MVP.
Second Team
Lance Morris
Ira, 2011 to 2013

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more consistent offensive player over the last 10 years than 2013 Ira graduate Lance Morris.
In his three years as a varsity starter, Morris was named the district Offensive Player of the Year all three years.
Jared Cotton
Ira, 2011 to 2014

Cotton started all four years of his high school career and after being named an honorable mention in 2011, was the district MVP in 2012. Cotton finished his career with four all-district distinctions and played a large role during a very productive period in Ira basketball history.
Kylor Fine
Ira, 2010 to 2011

Fine led the way through the early part of the decade for the Ira Bulldogs.
The post player was named back-to-back district MVP, in 2010 and 2011, and averaged a double-double in 2011 with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
