ANDREWS — The Snyder Tigers finished non-district play by splitting a baseball doubleheader against Andrews Friday.
Snyder defeated the Mustangs 14-4 in the first game and lost 10-9 in the nightcap.
The Tigers broke a 1-1 tie in the second inning of the first game by scoring two runs on an error. Aaron Escobedo’s RBI single was the key hit when Snyder scored two runs in the third.
Matt Bass and Colton Lee each hit RBI singles in the four-run fourth inning. The Tigers scored two runs in the fifth, highlighted by Jake Chavez hitting an RBI double. Rolin Morin’s 2-run double in the sixth helped Snyder to end the game on the run rule.
Lee led the offense by hitting three singles with two RBIs. Lance Davis hit a single and triple with two RBIs. Chavez contributed a single and double. Bass hit two singles.
Bass was the winning pitcher.
In the nightcap, Andrews scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh for the 10-9 win.
Snyder led 6-0 going into the bottom of the third. Jarrett Reneau and Morin each hit RBI singles. Bass’ RBI double in the two-run fourth helped the Tigers to regain a six-run lead, 8-2.
Andrews scored one run in the fourth and three runs in the fifth, reducing Snyder’s lead to 8-6.
Bass hit a RBI double in the sixth before Andrews’ final-inning rally.
Bass hit two singles and two doubles with two RBIs. Reneau contributed two singles and a double. Davis hit a single and double while Brody Jasso had two singles.
Reneau was the losing pitcher.
Snyder (9-7) will host Wylie in the District 5-4A opener at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
