Two Scurry County runners to compete in state meet

Two Scurry County cross country runners qualified for the state meet during regional competitions on Monday.
Snyder’s Christian Escobedo qualified for the second straight year and Ira’s Lexton Hernandez also qualified.
Escobedo finished sixth overall with a time of 15:50 in the Region 1-4A meet held at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
His teammates, Corey Landin, Michael Jaramillo and Jeremiah Rodriguez, all finished in the top 50.
Taryn Nobles led the way for the Snyder girls’ team with a 70th place finish.
Zairah Cabrera finished 78th, Kim Cortes finished 83rd and Mary Kerr finished 88th.
Ira’s Hernandez finished sixth in the 2-1A meet in San Angelo with a time of 18:09.
The state meet will be held Nov. 9 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
