Velasquez finishes 11th at 4A state golf tournament

Snyder High School senior Cylie Velasquez shot a second round 77 to finish 11th at the Class 4A state golf tournament on Tuesday.
She entered the final day at Kyle’s Plum Creek Golf Club tied for 36th place with an 88. Her 77 on Tuesday moved her to within two shots of finishing in the top 10 at 165.
Velasquez tied with Geronimo Navarro’s Madelyn Reyes and Andrews’ Paige Jennings.
Carrollton Ranchview’s Bohyun Park won the individual title with a two-round 126. She finished 24 shots ahead of Lamar Fulshear’s Tristan Gabbard.
Andrews won the team title with a two-round 649, 29 shots ahead of Lampasas’ 678.
At the Class 1A state tournament at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin, Ira sophomore Teaghan Price finished in a tie for 20th with a two-round score of 205.
Price recorded a 106 on Tuesday after finishing the first day tied for 14th place with a 99. She tied with Knippa’s Rebekah Ramirez for 20th place.
Phoenix Charter School’s Hannah Nimmo won the Class 1A title with a two-round 158. Motley County’s Sierra Jameson and Channing’s Kami Woodman finished tied for second at 165.
Robert Lee won the team title with a 796. Robert Lee and Eula finished the first day tied at 405, but a 391 on Tuesday gave Robert Lee the title.
