WTC adds two to 2020 teams

Both the Western Texas College women’s soccer and volleyball teams added to their 2020 rosters this week.

The Lady Westerner soccer team added recruit Byanka Rivera of Ysleta High School in El Paso for the upcoming season. The Lady Indians went 10-12-1 in 2019 and Rivera was a captain for the team. She played forward and mid-fielder.

The Lady Westerner volleyball team landed a commitment from  Amber Doyle.

Doyle played for Manzano High School in Albuquerque, N.M. where she recorded 218 kills and 139 digs her senior season. As a team, the Lady Monarchs finished 14-7 on the season.

Sophomore C.J. Smith of the men’s basketball team was invited to the All-America Juco Showcase in Atlanta, Ga. The showcase is scheduled for August.

As a freshman, Smith averaged 14.9 points per game with 2.5 rebounds and 4 assists per game.
