WTC cowboys qualify for NIRA finals

CASPER-Wyo. — Western Texas College rodeo athletes Rooster Yazzie and Colton Fritzlan qualified for final round competition at the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association National Finals.
The top 12 athletes in each event make the finals.
Bull rider Fritzlan recorded a score of 76.5 points on his third ride, Thursday night, and is currently in second place in the standings.
Fritzlan’s latest run, combined with the 82.0 from his first ride, earned him 130 total points.
He is 25 points behind current leader Daylon Swearinger of Panola College.
Steer wrestler Yazzie recorded a time of 5.7 seconds, his best of the rodeo, on his final run to go along with his 6.3 and 6.2.
He is in eighth place after three preliminary rounds.  
Both Yazzie and Fritzlan will compete in the finals Saturday afternoon.
