Despite not finishing the 2020 season, the Western Texas College softball team is bringing home some hardware after being named a NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.
Both the WTC softball team and the women’s basketball team made the list.
WTC softball finished the year with a 3.28 team grade point average (GPA). The Lady Westerners went 13-7 in their 20 non-conference games. Conference play was scheduled to start on March 20, but the NJCAA’s decision to cancel the remainder of the 2020 athletic calendar due to COVID-19 ended the season.
The WTC women’s basketball team finished the year with a 3.05 GPA. The Lady Westerners went 12-13 in 2019-20.
Oliver signs LOI
Landry Oliver of the Lady Westerner volleyball team signed a letter of intent to play for Central Baptist College in Conway, Ark. The Wall native recorded 67 kills and 58 digs in 2020.
