Allocations show retails sales were down

August retail sales were not good in the City of Snyder and Scurry County, according to sales tax allocations released by the Texas Comptroller’s office this week.
The city will receive $200,363 in sales tax allocations this month, down 16.98 percent compared to the October 2015 total of $241,368.
For the year, the city has received more than $2.1 million, down 26.74 percent compared to the 2015 total of more than $2.9 million.
The county will receive $129,081 in allocations this month, a 21.79 percent drop compared to a year ago. In October 2015, the county received $165,058.
For the year, the county has received more than $1.3 million, 16.04 percent less than the 10-month 2015 total of more than $1.5 million.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $650 million in local sales tax allocations for October, 5.5 percent more than in October 2015.
“The cities of San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano and McKinney saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations,” Hegar said. “The cities of Houston and Midland saw significant decreases in sales tax allocations.”
