Editor’s Note: This is the final article highlighting the agencies supported by the Scurry County United Way campaign.

Cancer Services Network, Inc. (CSN), one of the recipients of Scurry County United Way funding, provides services to 19 counties, including Scurry County.
Nancy Tyler, CSN’s executive director, said the agency provided help to 342 cancer patients within the 19 counties in 2015.
“This year, to date, we have already served 20 percent more clients than we did the entire year in 2015,” she said.
Since 1998, CSN has offered referral services and financial assistance for cancer patients.
“We offer services to anyone with a confirmed cancer diagnosis living in the 19-county area we serve, no matter where they go for their cancer treatment,” Tyler said.
Financial services are based on income and household size. Support groups, educational information and referrals are available to anyone, regardless of family size and income.
“Our current financial assistance programs include help with the cost of cancer-related prescriptions, most often pain and nausea medications, medical equipment and supplies, like wigs, hats, bras and prostheses, nutritional supplements to help them keep up their weight and strength, health insurance premium payments, money for gas to get to treatment and assistance with utilities and rent in emergency situations.” Tyler said.
Tyler said even though CSN does not have an office in Snyder, social workers provide assistance by phone and through home visits.
“Scurry County United Way donations are used to provide services to cancer patients in Scurry County,” she said. “Last year, CSN offered help to 22 Scurry County cancer patients, many who were traveling to Lubbock and MD Anderson in Houston for their cancer treatment.”
