With the Fourth of July coming up, Snyder’s Chamber of Commerce has elected to move forward with plans for celebrations, though not as big as the town is used to seeing.

The July 4 celebrations in Towle Park will begin at 7 a.m. with Freedom Run hosted by CrossFit Snyder and Lift Fitness & Nutrition. The event will include several different distances — a 10K beginning at 7 a.m., a one-mile fun run at 7:15 a.m., and a 5K at 7:30 a.m.

After the Freedom Run, Calvary Baptist Church will host a Prayer Breakfast at the Towle Park pavilion at 9 a.m.

At the same time, the lineup for the parade will begin in the Moffett Field parking lot.

There will be no registration required to participate in the parade.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m., taking its traditional route through Towle Park.

Although vendors and the carnival will not make an appearance at this year’s celebration, chamber staff encourage community members to enjoy a day in the park while following  COVID-19 guidelines for social distancing, washing hands and wearing face masks.

At the conclusion of the day, a fireworks display will be put on at dusk.
