Charges dropped for Snyder man

A Snyder man had a felony assault charge dismissed after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge.
Jose Valente Alcaraz, 47, had been charged with felony assault, family violence, after choking a member of his family. The incident occured June 12, according to court documents.
The charge was lowered to a Class A misdemeanor and after entering a guilty plea to that charge, Alcaraz was given one year deferred probation and ordered to pay $244 in court costs.
