Cogdell Memorial Hospital’s radiology department will sponsor the inaugural Pink Run on Oct. 10 in Towle Park.
The 5K run/walk will begin at the pavilion and a bake sale will also be held during the event.
Runners may begin warming up at 8:30 a.m. with a Zumba lesson led by Glitter Bomb Brandy. Families are encouraged to participate, including children under the age of eight, if accompanied by a parent or guardian, organizer Lupe Lazcano said.
“Strollers or wagons are also welcome,” she said. “We set a goal of 100 participants.”
Registration is $15 for children between the ages of eight and 11 and $20 for everyone over the age of 12.
Lazcano said a T-shirt and superhero mask will be given to participants who register before Oct. 1.
“Put on your pink superhero gear and your tutus and come out and support breast cancer awareness,” Lazcano said.
Registration forms may be picked up at radiology department or online at www.cogdellhospital.com.
The department raises money each year to underwrite health promotion, which provides women 40 years and older with a mammogram in October. During the month, the cost is $50.
“This year we wanted to do something different and we wanted to involve hospital employees and the community,” Lazcano said. “That’s why we chose to sponsor the Pink Run.”
