Commission to discuss fate of four homes

Four houses will come before Snyder’s Building Standards Commission when it meets Monday.
Each building will have its own public hearing before the commission votes on whether or not to declare it a nuisance. In each case, the commission may require the owner to fix problems, although it may also request demolition.
The houses are located at 220 34th Street, 1900 Ave. I, 1007 21st Street and 906 30th Street.
The house on 34th Street, which city records indicate is owned by Wanda R. Bennett of San Angelo, has inadequate sanitation and exits. Hazardous conditions also exist in the home’s wiring and plumbing, it is a fire hazard and unsecured and open to the weather, according to City Inspector Dan Hicks’ report.
The house on Ave. I, which city records indicate is owned by Henry Medrano, is structurally hazardous and an attractive nuisance. It also has not been maintained, is unsecured and is open to the weather, Hicks’ report states.
The house on 21st Street, which is owned by Maria Hermosillo according to city records, is unsecured and open to the weather. Hicks’ report also stated there was hazardous wiring and conditions and had not been maintained adequately.
The house on 30th Street is owned by Ouzzie McClain, Jessie Mae McClain, T.R. McClain and Evelyn McClain of Pearsall according to city records. Hicks reported that it is a fire hazard, is unsecured and open to the weather. It also has hazardous wiring and has not been maintained.
The public hearings and meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m., are open to the public and will take place in the council chambers at Snyder City Hall.
