Commissioners approve budget amendments, line-item transfers

Scurry County commissioners approved a large number of budget amendments and line-item transfers during their meeting today.

Budget amendments approved by the commissioners were:

• $8,160 received from other counties for housing inmates was placed into the capital outlay section of the budget to help finance vehicle purchases.

• $145,908 in certified revenue was placed into capital outlay and professional services sectors of the county budget.

• A $1,000 donation from a community member was placed in the equipment portion of the budget to purchase needed items.

• A $250 donation was placed in miscellaneous maintenance and repairs to help finance cart path repairs at the county golf course.

In addition, commissioners approved the following line-item transfers:

• $550 was moved from lease/rental to communication and travel expenses in the district clerk’s budget because of negative status in the latter two fields.

• $800 was moved from office supplies to education in the Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace’s budget to pay for clerk training.

• $1,900 was transferred from office supplies to travel and training in the tax collector’s budget to pay for training conference costs.

• $3,350 was transferred from fuel and oil to maintenance and repair in the Pct. 2 road and bridge budget to cover wear and tear on equipment.

• $4,081 was transferred from fuel and oil to part-time expenses in the Pct. 2 road and bridge budget to maintain the department’s mowing schedule.

• $200 was transferred from fuel and oil to communications in the Pct. 2 road and bridge budget to pay for extra phones.

• $1,800 was transferred from fuel and oil to utilities in the Pct. 2 road and bridge budget to pay for uniform needs.

• $13,000 was transferred from road material and construction to buildings and grounds and maintenance and repairs in the Pct. 3 road and bridge budget to cover a large amount of repairs.

• $2,000 was transferred from drug expenses to communications and transportation in the county welfare budget.

• $70 was transferred from education and training to dues and memberships in the senior center budget to cover insufficient funds for the remainder of the year.

• $5,500 was transferred from activity supplies to part-time and education and travel in the Boys and Girls Club budget to cover expenses for the remainder of the year.
